Owl Builder Punch for Harry Potter card

A friend of mine had her granddaughter visiting last week and they went to Universal to experience the Harry Potter attractions.  Her granddaughter is a big Harry Potter fan and also very creative.  So I invited her over to make a Harry Potter card.  I saw the idea of using the Owl Builder Punch for such a card on Pinterest and went with that.

She ended up playing with some of my other tools and paper and created something entirely on her own but I thought I would still show you the card I made.

I used the Owl Builder Punch and the 1/2" Circle Punch for the owl but just hand cut the cape and the Hogwarts pennant.  I used the Layering Circles framelits to create a background for the owl.  The embossed background is from the retired Stylish Stripes embossing folder.  I used scrap pieces to create the strip that resembles Harry's scarf.

Online Retired Products Sale

It's time for me to clear out more retired products.  But this time I'm trying something new.  When I have the sale in my home it leaves out people that are not local to The Villages or have other commitments on that day.  So this sale is completely online.  I've created a separate blog that lists everything I have for sale with pictures and prices.

You can also get there by clicking on the link above in the header.  The best way to claim the products that you would like is to email me at stampitsweet@gmail.com.  That way I can take requests in the order they were submitted.

If you are local you may pick up your items and pay by cash or check.  If you are not local I'll determine the best way to ship your items and you can pay with PayPal.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Swirly Scribbles Meets Mickey

This is such a fun card, and so easy!

A couple of weeks ago I was invited by a friend to spend three days at Disney World with her.  I had so much fun.  We laughed, we screamed, we ate, we got wet!  This is the card that I sent to her to thank her for such a great time.

The Swirly Scribbles thinlits are perfect for the "Mickey" on the front of the card.  I used a traditional black, red and white color scheme and added the important polka dots!

The perfect greeting for inside the card comes from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set.  I truly was smiling as I wrote in this card to thank her.

Thanks again, Laurie!  Let me know when you're ready to go again.

Jar of Love Bundle

When I first saw the new catalog in April I noticed the adorable mason jar on the front.  I was so excited to see what Stampin' Up! was offering.  Fast forward to p. 75 of the catalog.  A great stamp set and coordinating framelits.  I was thrilled!  Now back to the cover of the catalog.  There are two cards made with this new bundle.  I liked a little from each card so I combined them into this card.

There are some other new products used on this card as well as the Jar of Love Bundle.  My background features the new Sparkle embossing folder.  I used some of the new In-Colors.  And I included the new Delicate White Doilies and Burlap Ribbon.

The jar, lid, flowers and leaves were all cut with the framelits.  The only thing I had to fussy-cut was the "Hello".

Birthday Blooms and Botanical Builder

I just can't get enough of the products in the Occasions catalog and that seems to be a pretty familiar comment from others.  Last night my friend and former downline Jan showed me a picture of a birthday card she made for someone special to her.  It was so pretty I asked if I could share it on my blog.

Jan is a long time stamper and makes beautiful cards as you can see.  She is loving the flowers from the Botanical Builders framelits and I think she went over the top with them on this special card.  Also a favorite are the sentiments in the Birthday Blooms stamp set.  I love the font that was used.  All these colors coordinate beautifully with the Birthday Bouquest Designer Series Paper.

Thank you Jan for letting me display your card on my blog and share with others your talent for creating very special cards.

Tea Party Favors

I've been very busy in my stamp studio the last few days.  I volunteered to make some favors for a tea at my church.  A fellow demo and Stampin' Pretty Pal, Patti MacLeith, shared the instructions with me to make these adorable tea bag holders.

They were designed to hold a tea bag and a chocolate square.  However, we're going to put a mint in one pocket and a Scripture verse in the other.

I used a retired stamp set (Tea Party) but the other products are current.  Don't you just love the Pool Party Glimmer Ribbon and Birthday Bouquet DSP?

Here are the supplies and measurements if you'd like to make one of your own.

  • Thick White Card Stock  7-3/4 x 3-1/2, scored at 3-1/2 and 4-1/4
  • 20" of Pool Party Glimmer Ribbon attached to front and spine
  • Blushing Bride Card Stock  3-1/4 x 3-1/4, embossed with Lovely Lace TIEF
  • Tea Lace Paper Doily
  • Subtles DSP Stack in Pool Party  1-1/2 x 3-1/4
  • Tea Party stamped in Blushing Bride on Whisper White Cardstock, cut out with Ovals Framelit, attached with a dimensional
  • Birthday Bouquet DSP (for inside pockets)  6 x 6, folded in half and glued along edge, scored at 2-3/4 and 3-1/4, notched with 2" circle punch

All 72 of these are boxed and waiting for someone to pick them up and fill with the mints and verses for Sunday.  Thank you, Patti, for sharing your instructions so I could add a little something special for some dear ladies at our church.

The Facebook community for Stampin' Pretty Pals is so generous to share ideas.  You can be a part of that group by joining my team of hobby demos.  Purchase the Ultimate Bundle of products (any product from any current catalog) up to $155 for just $99 plus tax with free shipping until March 31.  We love hobby demos.  No requirements to sell, just enjoy using Stampin' Up! products at a discount and join in our chat and gallery groups on Facebook.  Contact me for more details.

Party Wishes and MOJO436

I can always use birthday cards and I've been wanting to use the adorable little cupcake punch from the Party Punch Pack.  Isn't it just too cute?

So when I saw the sketch this morning for Mojo Monday I knew I wanted to use the Party Wishes stamp set and the Party Punch Pack.  They can be bundled to save 15%.

Here's the sketch that I used.

The cupcakes were inked using Melon Mambo and Mint Macaron markers.  I stamped "Let's party!" on the banner for the card front from the Party with Cake stamp set.  I also used that stamp set for the inside.

Birthdays are so much more fun with a hand-stamped birthday card.  Who's on your list for a birthday card this week?

Measurements & Details

Mint Macaron  4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2
Melon Mambo  4 x 5-1/4
DSP  3-7/8 x 5-1/8
Melon Mambo  3 x 4-1/4
Mint Macaron  2-7/8 x 4-1/8 (emboss with Tiny Triangles TIEF)
Melon Mambo  7/8 Scallop Circle Punch (punch 4)
Whisper White  3/4 Circle Punch (punch 4)
Banner  1/2 x 3 (with notched end)

New Ikea SKARSTA Desk

My stamping studio has been having a redo for the last year.  I've finally added the last piece of furniture.  I realized that I prefer to stamp standing up.  So I started by putting a table on bed risers to see if that really was the solution.  I loved it but it didn't look great and the size was too small.  A couple of weeks ago my husband and I checked out the desks at Ikea.  The STARSKA desk is perfect because the height is adjustable.  It can be cranked up or down to whatever height you need.

When I'm stamping I have it cranked up to 36".  If I want to have a small class in my studio I crank it down to 30" and add chairs.

It usually sits in the middle of my room but I have even turned it and used it as an extension of my desk when I'm working during tax season.

Now I just need the final touches to my studio.  I think it's time for new paint on the walls and just the right accessories.  Just the fun stuff!!

DON'T FORGET MY RETIRED STAMP SALE this Saturday, February 27 from 9:00 to noon.  CLICK HERE for more details.

Spring Wreath Class

Today I held a class for women from my church to make this adorable spring wreath.  We are a relatively new church and are trying to have several events for women to get to know each other better.  What a fun morning we had and now I have several new friends.

Most of these women said they really weren't "crafty" but they all did a great job and thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship.

Made with Love for PPA288

I've found that participating in stamping challenges is a great way to get some inspiration for a card.  Today's card was inspired by the sketch from Amy Lazzell for Pals Paper Arts PPA288.

I just received the stamp set Made with Love in the mail yesterday.  It was a gift from my upline Mary Fish for promoting to Bronze Elite.  How fun is this?  So I inked it up this morning and incorporated it into this sketch.

When my daughter was a baby a fabric called Rosebuds was very popular for little girls.  This piece of DSP from English Garden reminds me of those cute little dresses.

Some of the details are the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper and Dotted Lace Trim.

Here are the basics for the card...

  • Cut Thick Whisper White 5-1/4 x 10-1/2 - score and fold at 5-1/4
  • Cut Mint Macaron 4-1/8 x 4-1/8
  • Cut DSP 4 x 4 - layer onto Mint Macaron and attach to card base
  • Cut Mint Macaron 1-1/8 x 5-1/4
  • Cut a piece of Mint Macaron Dotted Lace Trim 6-1/2 long - wrap around Mint Macaron and attach to card front
  • Cut Blushing Bride circle using Circles Collection framelit (I used the 6th size from the center)
  • Stamp striped onesie from Made with Love on Whisper White using Basic Black Archival Ink
  • Watercolor stripes using Blushing Bride Ink and an Aqua Painter
  • Cut out onesie using Baby's First Framelits - attach to Blushing Bride circle using dimensionals
  • Punch heart from Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper using the heart from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack - attach to onesie using a dimensional
  • Attach the circle to the card front using dimensionals
Hope you enjoyed my card today.  Thinking back to when my daughter was a baby always brightens my day.
